What our customers say: Investment in fruit trees is for the long term, so it must always be worth buying good quality. I have just received a "Tomcot" apricot tree from Blackmoor Nursery, ordered from them on-line less than 48 hours ago. The tree is in excellent shape, thanks to the 5 star packaging, & will no doubt settle in well. I would unhesitatingly recommend this supplier. Many thanks, Rob Cummins

Blackmoor Nurseries and TREE AID Partnership 2012

Trees Mean Life
Last year Blackmoor Nurseries and our customers donated a fabulous £9526 to TREE AID’s Tree Revolution Campaign. That is equivalent to 9526 trees planted and protected in Africa’s Sahel Region, the harshest, driest landscape on the planet. Thank you so much to all of our customers who supported TREE AID last year.
But we still need your help. Vulnerable families living in Africa’s drylands are facing a terrifying year ahead. Poor rains mean that staple food crops have withered in the fields and rural people are facing famine.
Trees provide a safety net when food is scarce: fruit, nuts, leaves, and seeds can all be eaten. Things that grow on trees can also be sold so that families can buy food when times are tough. In short, trees can make the difference between famine and survival for villagers in the Sahel.
As you enjoy the bounty from your own fruit trees and bushes, please help some of the most vulnerable families on the planet to do the same. You can make a donation to TREE AID at the checkout, and when you donate, Blackmoor donates to TREE AID too, giving 10% of the value of your basket.
Please make a donation at the checkout today. £1 can plant a tree. £10 can train a mother to care for those trees and help them bear fruit. £100 can train a whole community to plant trees and protect existing forest for generations to come. Please help TREE AID replace hunger and poverty with thriving, self reliant communities across the Sahel.

How Trees Make A Difference

In rural Burkina Faso families often do not have enough to eat for 3 or 4 months every year. In the communities where TREE AID works, trees are providing 25% of food for 30% of the year, particularly during the ‘hungry months’.

Aïcha Ouédraogo lives in Nagraogo, a tiny village, deep in the heart of rural Burkina Faso. Aicha’s village is only reached by dirt roads, and is many miles from the nearest town. Aicha is 54 and cares for many of her grandchildren who have been orphaned, so she needs everything she can grow in the fields to keep the hungry children healthy and fit.

Since she received training and support from TREE AID in 2004, Aicha’s life has become much easier. She says: “I have planted many trees that help my family in different ways. The Acacia trees in my fields help my crops to grow strong; fruit from my Shea trees keeps my grandchildren healthy; and the many things I can sell, like soap made from my Neem trees, means I can even buy supplies so we are not often hungry anymore.”
