What our customers say: Investment in fruit trees is for the long term, so it must always be worth buying good quality. I have just received a "Tomcot" apricot tree from Blackmoor Nursery, ordered from them on-line less than 48 hours ago. The tree is in excellent shape, thanks to the 5 star packaging, & will no doubt settle in well. I would unhesitatingly recommend this supplier. Many thanks, Rob Cummins

Frequently Asked Questions

Q : What to do with bare root trees on delivery.

A : If the ground is frozen when your plants arrive please open and check the contents, remove any plants in plastic containers or coir pots and temporarily store any bare root plants in a frost free unheated place such as a garage or shed until there is a thaw. Please keep the plastic bags wrapped round their roots to avoid them drying out and soak the roots for 2 hours once a week until you can plant them and re-wrap them.

Q : Do you supply a printed catalogue ?

A : We no longer produce a paper catalogue as they are expensive and out of date as soon as they are printed. All of our stock can be viewed and purchased from our website which is updated daily and this avoids any out of stock items being ordered and having to send substitutions. If you go to our product guide, this is a easy way to view all stock items.

Q : Do you grow Espalier or Fan trained fruit trees ?

A : Yes, all the trained fruit trees are in their own section. Click here to view what is available

Q : Can fruit trees be grown in containers ?

A : Yes, all fruit trees can be grown in pots as long as they are large enough. See our fruit growers handbook section for more advise on growing trees in containers.

Q : I wish to collect my order from the Nursery, is this possible ?

A : Yes you can order on the website and select the collection option at the checkout. Please allow us 24 hours notice, excluding weekends and bank holidays, to arrange for your plants to be ready on your arrival.

Q : I have placed an order with you, when can I expect delivery ?

A : We only lift the trees and soft fruit plants when they are fully dormant and all the leaves have fallen. This depends on the season but this is normally around the end of November. We shall start the dispatch around that time and we shall get your order to you as soon as possible. We shall inform you via email of the delivery day as soon as it is know closer to the time.

Q : How much is the delivery charge ?

A : The delivery charge is worked out from the weight and the size of the plant. We have several rates that apply to UK mainland addresses. A delivery charge of £10.00 is for all tree orders (except any trained trees) regardless of the number of trees and plants ordered. The lower postal rates will be applied to smaller orders of the lighter plants like currants, raspberries, gooseberries, blackberries, asparagus and strawberries although larger orders will go into the £10.00 rate. Once you have put together your order the delivery charge will show before payment.

Q : Can you recommend a variety for me ?

A : It is hard to recommend varieties as this is down to personal taste and each variety has its own unique taste. You can see in the best sellers our most popular varieties. The easiest variety of apple to try growing is Falstaff.

Q : I am selecting which rootstock I want but I am not sure what the planting distances should be if I am planning to grow them as normal bush shape ?

A : The basic rule is that whatever height your tree will eventually reach will also be your planting distance. For example M26 will grow to around 3-4 metres and so will need a planting distance of 3-4 metres, M27 will grow 2 metres and will need a planting distance of 2 metres.

Q : Are you able to deliver your fruit trees to France ?

A : Yes, we can deliver to any country within the European Union. The delivery charge is worked out by the size and weight of the order and the delivery destination. If you add the items required and proceed to check out then the delivery cost will show before you confirm and pay for your order. We are unable to send orders to any countries outside the European Union.

Plants arrived safely. I'm very pleased with them. The packaging was excellent and the plants were bigger than I expected them to be. I am just about to pot them, as my garden soil isn't suitable. Looks as though the blueberries will fruit this year. Many thanks for an excellent service Regards G A

I bought 2 apple trees and 2 blueberry bushes from you a couple of weeks ago and I am just mailing you to say thank you for the prompt delivery and how pleased I am with the excellent quality of the plants. I would highly recommend Blackmoor Nurseries Kind Regards, Emma

Thank you for your updates. May I also take this opportunity to remark that having used your major competitors and yourselves over the last couple of years I can say that Blackmoor knock the spots off them. Typically Blackmoor turn orders around in 2 to 3 days. The others can take up to a month- not much use getting plants/seeds when they have passed their planting season. Also your prices and quality come out on top. Might I suggest that you move into the veg seed market? Regards Vince Hackett

One of our customers comments - One year on and our fan-trained peach tree (Avalon Pride) has delivered a crop of beautiful meltingly ripe peaches. The sceptics told me that planting a peach tree on a windy hillside in Yorkshire would be a waste of time - I am so grateful they were proved wrong! Take Me There
