Plant the canes about 18” (45 cm) apart with 6 ft (1.8 m) between the rows. Avoid planting the young canes too deeply, a covering of 3” (7.5 cms) over the roots is ample. Cut the canes down to 2” (5 cms) above the soil immediately after planting (bare root canes only, Do not cut down the 1 litre potted canes). In the spring when the new shoots appear from beneath the soil the 2” stub should be cut away. The young canes are tied into a wire fence system for cropping the following season. Subsequently all canes which have fruited are cut out at ground level immediately after fruiting.

The canes arrived yesterday, on the date requested. They were well-packaged and the roots were moist. I have now heeled them in, awaiting planting into final position on my allotment in March. I am very happy with the service and quality of the canes.

The raspberry canes arrived well packaged and all looked ok. They were soaked for a while before being temporarily heeled into a large container and placed an unheated greenhouse until spring. However it is now obvious that one of the Joan J canes is dead. The others are a beautiful rust colour, budding with signs of new life, compared to the one cane that is a pale white, dormant stick with no buds and certainly no signs of life. You can’t win them all and one poor performer would not deter me from ordering from Blackmoor again.

Healthy plant received.

I bought 10 canes 3 years ago and I will be getting another 20. You get 2 decent crops by 1/2 pruning canes at end of year; these sprout and fruit in early summer, while new canes fruit prodigiously in autumn. Fruits are top quality and delicious.

What a vigorous variety! First year it crpopped better than expected and last years crop seemed to go on forever. Delicious. Does tend to try to take over the garden though with new shoots coming up quite a distance from the parent plant; needs keeping in check.

Just a thank you for my bare rooted Raspberries I have just received. They look very strong plant with a mass of healthy roots and have arrived well packaged and in perfect condition with the root ball still damp. I am pleasantly surprised as to the quality. They are far superior to other well known Nurseries I have ordered from in the past. I will certainly recommend your company to anyone who is in need of good quality plants and look forward to having an abundance of lovely fruit in the years to come. Well done for keeping me informed about my order and delivery time. You are an excellent ***** 5 Star company
