A guide to choosing the right size

Blackmoor Nursery is one of very few Nurseries in the UK offering gardeners the opportunity to buy Raspberry canes direct from our Nursery.

All orders are despatched in one delivery. If your order contains both bare root and container grown plants then we can only despatch when all plants are ready.

Any Bare Root Items - Availability means Available for supply from early November to May.

Any Container grown items - Availability means Available for supply now.

All our Raspberry canes are ministry inspected.

Autumn fruiting varieties, i.e. Autumn Bliss, Polka and Joan J are completely cut to ground level during the winter.

Summer fruiting varieties, These fruit on the second year cane (normally darker than the one year cane)The second year cane is pruned back down to soil level in the winter after they have fruited leaving the one year old cane for next summers crop.

situation

Plant the canes about 18” (45 cm) apart with 6 ft (1.8 m) between the rows. Avoid planting the young canes too deeply, a covering of 3” (7.5 cms) over the roots is ample. Cut the canes down to 2” (5 cms) above the soil immediately after planting (bare root canes only, Do not cut down the 1 litre potted canes). In the spring when the new shoots appear from beneath the soil the 2” stub should be cut away. The young canes are tied into a wire fence system for cropping the following season. Subsequently all canes which have fruited are cut out at ground level immediately after fruiting.

Raspberry Collection 1 Saving £3.00

Raspberry Canes | Type Autumn & Summer Fruiting | Genus Rubus idaeus | Raspberry Canes For Sale | Buy Online

10 canes of the Summer fruiting variety Glen Carron. 10 canes of the Autumn fruiting variety Joan J fruiting from July right through to the first frosts. Normal Price £29.80 per 20 canes. Saving £3.00

Glen Carron - An early to mid season selection cropping over a four week period. A very popular Raspberry in tasings. The high quality, large berries are consistently larger than Tulameen at 5.4gms, bright red, and with a high gloss and a high Class 1 percentage. The berries are long, conic in shape, well presented and pick and plug easily. They are very sweet with a low level of acidity. Glen Carron is vigorous, producing a good show of strong, spine-free canes. The fruit is well displayed with strong laterals. This new variety is resistant to Cane Botrytris, Spur Blight and Raspberry Aphid.

Joan J - A high yielding, large fruited primocane selection from Medway Fruits. It is an early season selection, commencing picking at end July/early August, similar to Autumn Bliss, and cropping for a seven-week season.

The variety crops heavily in the first half of its fruiting period. The berries are 30% larger than Autumn Bliss and are both brighter and firmer.

Flavour is superb. Fruit weights are typically 6 grams and yields of 6-7 tons/ha (2.3 – 3 tons/acre) should be anticipated. The fruit freezes exceptionally well without any increase in acidity that occurs with most other varieties. With spine free canes this makes this new autumn fruiting variety second to none for picking and eating.

Thank you for your delivery, I was impressed with the products and would like to mention in particular the careful and intelligent packing, which ensured that trees, shrubs, stakes and smaller plants arrived safely and in excellent condition. The bare rooted plants were carefully wrapped so did not dry out even though I was not able to plant immediately. Thank you !
