10 Litre = Container grown and can be planted all year round. The size refers to the number of litres of compost that the container holds.

We are not a Garden Centre or retail Nursery. Orders can be placed via our website and the collection option can be selected at the checkout. Your order will then be ready for you to collect during our normal opening hours which are Monday-Friday 07.30-16.30. Our plants are grown in fields that can be 2 miles away from our office so it is not possible to just turn up and select your own trees.
Delivery Charges - The delivery charge is worked out from the weight and the size of the plant. We have several rates that apply to UK mainland addresses. A delivery charge of £8.95 is for all single tree orders. £10.00
To take advantage of a promotional code or gift voucher this must be entered into the redeem code box at the checkout. Discounts cannot be given once an order is completed and any codes have not been used.
Medlar Fruit Trees | Genus Mespilus germanica | Medlar Nottingham Fruit Trees For Sale | Buy Online
The original apple! Medlar Nottingham fruit trees for sale - The tree is small and handsome with beautiful blossom. A Medlar is an old and exotic looking fruit, but it is a native of Europe and not the tropics. The medlar is russet brown and the size of a small apple, and the seeds are visible through the gaping cups below the calyx. Even odder is the preparation for serving. The fruits are picked in November and then allowed to decay (blet) for several weeks. The flesh turns brown, soft and sweet. It is then scooped out with a spoon.

We received our order right on time; among the beautiful blackcurrants, and alongside the Discovery, was this lovely Medlar. This was what we needed to cement our move from Wilts to Wales, and as usual from Blackmoor is a superb plant, with lovely symmetrical roots and shapely head. I am glad I had to heel it in - it gave me an extra chance to savour it!

I come back to Blackmoors time and time again because the fruit stock is second to none; the customer service is excellent; the packaging is sturdy; despatch is swift ie a few days rather than weeks. Again, this Nottingham I have just received is one fine specimen. Thankyou so much everyone at Blackmoors. I love my tree!

I purchased the 10 litre pot option. Wonderful tree delived. First time I have used you and this will not be the last. Wish I had found you years ago.
Where to Grow a Medlar
Medlars aren't really fussy. They prefer a warm, sheltered site with moist, well-drained soil (don't we all?) but will do well in most soils, so long as they're not excessively chalky or badly drained. It's worth watering them in very dry spells, especially in the first three or four years of life.
Strong winds can damage the flowers, so it's best to ensure they're not too exposed. They will tolerate partial shade - mine is at the back of an overshadowed, east-facing bed that only receives sun for a couple of hours a day, but it still produces well.
Harvesting Medlar Fruit
Some people leave the fruit to drop to the ground but it's easier to keep an eye on the fruits if you pick them in late October or November, while still hard. Store them in a single layer on dry sand or paper, stalk upwards, somewhere cool and airy (it doesn't have to be dark). It's a good idea to dip the stalks in a strong salt solution to prevent moulds and rotting.
Any time from a week to three weeks later, the fruit will have bletted. The skin will have browned and possibly become slightly wrinkled, and the fruit will be soft to the touch. Eat as soon as it's ready, as this seems to be when it's at its most tangy and citrus.
