Bare Root = Field grown trees that have been freshly lifted and supplied with no soil around the roots. Only available during the dormant period November-April
10 Litre = Container grown and can be planted all year round. The size refers to the number of litres of compost that the container holds.
1 Year Maiden = A one year old tree and the size depends on the variety but in general they will be 125cm in height and will have some side branches.
2 Year Bush = A two year old tree that has been pruned back in the first winter to form a bush shape. Generally trees will be 140-160cm in height with multiple side branches. This height guide is an end of summer height.
3 Year Bush = A three year old tree that has been pruned back in the first winter to form a bush shape. Generally trees will be 140-160cm in height with multiple side branches. This height guide is a end of summer height.
2 Year Cordon 10 Litre = The term cordon simply refers to a single stem with short sideshoots (the fruiting spurs). This is usually trained angled to 45 degrees (oblique cordon), but can be trained singly vertically (also known as minarette)
Pollination Made Simple
Most suburban situations provide good pollen due to the close proximity of other gardens. It is not always necessary to have pollinators if the bees and other pollinating insects are generous with their visits. If you have no other Apple tree close by then select two varieties in the same group or the adjoining group ie group 2 and 4 will pollinate group 3 as will any others in group 3. Some varieties are self fertile.
Collection - If you would like to collect your trees then use this option. Note the collection is from the Wholesale Nursery office between Monday-Friday only. Please allow 1 working days for your order to be processed prior to collection date.
We are not a Garden Centre or retail Nursery. Orders can be placed via our website and the collection option can be selected at the checkout. Your order will then be ready for you to collect during our normal opening hours which are Monday-Friday 07.30-16.30. Our plants are grown in fields that can be 2 miles away from our office so it is not possible to just turn up and select your own trees.
Delivery Charges - The delivery charge is worked out from the weight and the size of the plant. We have several rates that apply to UK mainland addresses. A delivery charge of £8.50 is for all single tree orders. £10.00 if more than one tree. £15.00 charge for larger orders except in the case of the Espalier Fans and Step Over trained trees where this charge is a maximum of £40.00. Once you have put together your order the delivery charge will show before payment. All orders are despatched in one delivery.
To take advantage of a promotional code or gift voucher this must be entered into the redeem code box at the checkout. Discounts cannot be given once an order is completed and any codes have not been used.
Blenheim Orange (AGM)
Apple Trees - Eating | Pollination group 3 | Award of Garden Merit
Dessert/Cooking Apple Blenheim Orange fruit trees - After nearly two centuries it is still regarded as the best dual purpose apple. Received the Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. The creamy flesh is crisp and dry with an excellent nutty flavour. Fruits are golden, flushed and striped with dull red and fine brown russet. Mildew resistance is good and the yields are heavy. Growth is very vigorous but this variety needs two other apple varieties for cross pollination (technical term is a triploid). A good choice for northern gardens. Picking time early October. Pollination group 3.

The process from purchase via the website to the point of collection was handled very efficiently. The bare root Blenheim Orange tree was a good shape, in good condition and at a competitive price.

I keep coming back to Blackmoor for more fruit trees. I bought Blenheim Orange, 1yr bare rooted on M27 rootstock. A heathy, well shaped tree. All my Blackmoor plants fruited well this year despite the harsh winter and dry summer in Yorkshire.

Planted a couple of years, not produced as much fruit as some of the other varieties I bought but tree still looks healthy.

Two healthy looking trees with good root systems arrived well packaged and on the specific day we had arranged. Could not fault their service or products. Expect to be buying from Blackmoor again.

There is a number of reasons why I keep coming back to Blackmoor's; excellent quality stock, impeccable customer service and speedy dispatch. I honestly can not fault this superb retail business. I've now bought 14 cookers this year of which 7 have been trained into cordons. Well done.

I have recently received in Jersey an order of bare root apple trees and bare root soft fruit from Blackmoor. The order was very well packed, it arrived on time and the plants all looked extremely vigorous and in excellent condition. The accompany instructions were clear concise and comprehensive. I consider Blackmoor to be an extremely good and reliable supplier. I would not hesitate to recommend Blackmoor to anyone. John Falle

I have used you every winter for the last few years - keep adding to my fruit collection. Had used another fruit producer prior to that and was disappointed with their service. Never been disappointed with blackmoor service or the quality of the fruit trees/bushes.
