Walnut Lara
This new self fertile variety has the advantage of being early bearing with the ability to produce high quality nuts on laterals as well as terminal shoots. It has improved disease resistance and improved yields compared to the old traditional varieties. Lara is a spur bearing variety which makes it smaller than a traditional walnut tree, though it can still reach a mature height of 10.5-12 m (35-40 ft) depending on soil fertility. Trees take 1 year to establish followed by nuts in 2-3 years.
